Google lunar x-prize

Google recently announced a $25 million dollar prize for a team that can land an unmanned robotic spacecraft on the moon, travel 500 feet and send images back to Earth.

The Pittsburgh post-Gazette has an article regarding Carnegie Melon Universities recent success in creating an autonomous vehicle. It seems the team will start concentrating on the lunar landing. You can read more about the Google lunar challenge at this website. Google also has an extension to their Google Earth project. It's Google moon with some really great panoramic views and explanations of the Apollo spacecraft landing on the moon.
