Yesterday I was finally able to stop in my local watering hole (Mc Groggan's taproom) and have a sandwich and adult beverage. It seems like I've been busy with family medical emergencies since June, wait a minute I was. Now before everyone gets the wrong impression I only had one, repeat one adult beverage, a hot sausage sandwich and Cajun french fries. Yes I required Rolaids before bed but hey I'm 40 years old.
I really like to go to McGroggan's for several reasons. Number one is it's a non-smoking establishment, there's nothing worse than going out and coming home smelling like an ashtray. Smoky bars also affect my respiratory system in a very bad way.
Number two the food is really really good. They have about 15 different beers on tap and well over 100 bottles to choose from. The wings are hot and the beer is cold. If you don't like hot wings they have about 25 different wing choices.
Number three, the employees are all very nice and go out of their way to make sure everything is correct. Having been there a few times..... several times.... you get the idea, they bring me a beverage in a glass with a straw. If I am alone they get in my backpack and pullout my cupholder. Now that service!
Just so everyone knows I was productive yesterday prior to going to the bar. And this productivity went something like this. Since it was 7° outside last night my Van would not start. So the 5 inches of snow had to be broomed off the hood, pull out the battery jumper connect the cables, wait five minutes, start the van. Be driven to the rehabilitation center to visit my family member. Attend therapy with them giving encouragement and trying to increase motivation.
While in therapy I felt extremely sorry for the physical therapist who was working with an elderly gentleman who had a below the knee amputation. He was adamant that he could not walk, would not attempt the parallel bars and generally refused all therapy. I wanted to encourage him letting him know that many individuals with prosthetics lead full and active lives. But I was only a visitor so I kept my mouth shut. After my therapy session I thought how good a hot sausage sandwich would be with a raspberry wheat beer. Could anyone blame me?
