I really am such a geek, last night I automated my Christmas tree. I used an X-10 outlet now my Christmas tree can be viewed from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. daily. I really enjoy having a smart home and believe I would use this technology regardless of my disability.
It's really no different than using the old-fashioned timers, I am just using my computer to accomplish the same task. The home automation software from Hal Automated Living can easily run schedules for the whole home. It's nice how the computer wakes me with the lights 50% on and the music of my choice. It sure beats a buzzing alarm clock.
