I only had the red spots in my mouth during and after chemotherapy.  They were like blood blisters.  Not a fatal condition, only a potential infection location, if they broke open.

I had white spots also.  Thrush

The doctors gave me mouth rinse for both problems.

I still have the occasional dry mouth and thrush.   Not a big problem
