The color of your dog's urine can give general indication of the presence of a problem.  Reddish or brownish color most likely signifies either actual blood or blood cell breakdown products present in the urine.  This would never be considered to be normal.

A complete physical exam, including a blood chemistry and a urinalysis would be a good idea.
