It's been a couple of weeks since I posted about the Skeeter Foundation cute pet competition and I went to the site to check how Barnes was doing. Unfortunately, he's only 60th according to the scoring scheme.
I know the competition organizers were having some issues with spammers influencing the competition results and so they changed the scoring methodology from average score to total points. Now the dog winning at the moment has a low average score but a very high number of votes so the total points is highest of any pet.
I'm not sure if that makes any sense either but I know for sure it shows that it is very difficult to design competitions like this on the web. [note to self, never design a competition like this for Embrace!]
Poor old Barnes won't be getting his free pet insurance policy this time around.
