Uncle SNAP Wants You! Volunteers Needed for Spring Bayou City Art Festival Fundraiser!
Posted Mar 14 2011 10:38am
You know that spring has arrived when SNAP issues the call up for volunteers to work the Bayou City Art Festival! Make no mistake. We need your help more than ever to staff the many beverage booths at the festival. We do this to raise money for SNAP spay-neuter programs to fight animal overpopulation. It takes hundreds of you to cover all of the shifts over the course of the weekend. The spring festival takes place in Memorial Park on the weekend of Friday, March 25, through Sunday, March 27, 2011. This year’s spring event marks the 40th anniversary of the festival, and it is expected be the highest attended one yet.
How does SNAP make money from your efforts? It’s simple: you work one or more shifts selling cold drinks--including beer, wine, soft drinks, and water--to thirsty festival-goers. When the event is over, all of the tips collected and a percentage of the sales receipts go to SNAP. We use these funds to continue providing state-of-the-art spay-neuter services for free to qualifying low-income households. That means every beer or soda you sell helps prevent another animal from dying in a shelter.
All volunteers must be 18 years of age or above since alcohol is served. Each volunteer will receive a festival t-shirt, which we ask that you wear while working at the festival. Please be sure to provide us with your t-shirt size as soon as possible so that we can be sure to have the proper size on hand for you. We cannot guarantee correct sizes for those who wait too long to sign up, so please sign up quickly.
The shifts, which are identical for all three days, are listed below. The best shifts go first, so the sooner you sign up, the more likely you are to get the shift(s) you prefer!
Bayou City Art Festival Booth Shifts 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Not only does volunteering for the festival help SNAP raise much needed funds for our spay-neuter programs; it also gets the word out about the importance of spaying and neutering. It’s a very important job, and it’s our biggest volunteer fundraising activity of the year. We cannot pull it off without YOU. Please help us change the world for countless unborn dogs and cats. Volunteer today by contacting our volunteer team by email or by phone at 713-862-3863 to sign up.!
