Training Time with Michael Baugh, Director of Training at Rover Oaks Pet Resort! Train Your DOG!

We are so excited to have our resident training and behavior expert, Michael Baugh, director of training at Rover Oaks Pet Resort , here to offer tips, advice and recommendations on how to best integrate our canines into our lives and vice versa!
Connie Richards, Rover Oaks' agility instructor, challenged me to compete with Stella in agility this year. Now, you might think that all trainers’ dogs are well behaved, and generally speaking that is true. It’s also true that Stella is maturing into a fantastic dog (not to mention a promising agility dog). Still, the challenge lit a fire under me. Get out and train your dog, Michael.
I won’t exactly call it a New Year’s resolution, but I’m taking the challenge. It also turns out that January is National Train Your Dog Month. So, I really have no excuse. Training does wonders for your relationship with your dog. After all, you’re learning how to better communicate. Training is also a good way to enrich your dog’s life with mental stimulation, which is every bit as important as physical exercise. And, did you know, dogs who receive regular training also have a longer life expectancy? It’s true.
So, here’s my challenge to you. Get out and train your dog. Rover Oaks is celebrating National Train Your Dog Month with discounts and special programs. Visit www.roveroaks.com to learn more! It will be good for you, and your dog!
