Rover Oaks Pet Resort Celebrates National Train Your Dog Month With Discounted Training Options to Help You Start the New Year Off on the Right Foot.
The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) has named January National Train Your Dog Month to bring awareness to the importance of socialization and training. APDT wants the public to learn that training your dog can be easy and fun! Because so many dogs and puppies are brought home during the winter holidays, one of the main goals is to help new pet parents start off right with a focus on positive training and building a strong relationship with your dog. In celebration of National Train Your Dog MonthRover Oaks Pet Resort is offering 15% off of ANY training service of your choice now through January 31, 2012.
“At Rover Oaks, we know how important your relationship with your dog is to you,” said Michael Baugh, director of training and behavior. “Good training is all about improving that relationship and helping you and your dog communicate with each other. Whether we are helping you and your puppy get through potty training, helping your older dog to learn good manners, or teaching both of you a new sport, the goal is for you and your companion to enjoy a rich, full life together,” he says.
As you make your New Year’s Resolutions, why not make some for your four-legged friends? Whether you want to improve your dogs manners, need a puppy class, private lessons, a lodge & learn, or something else, Rover Oaks has got you, and your dog covered! Their excellent staff of professional trainers offer a variety of training options to meet your goals and to fit your budget, and all of their reward-based methods are grounded in proven behavioral science. Learning never involves fear, pain or intimidation. Following are some of Rover Oaks’ most popular training options:
Mind Your Manners! Good manners are important for everyone, especially your dog. Rover Oaks’ Good Dog Manners class is an excellent beginner class for people with dogs 4 months and older. The focus is on building a strong human-canine bond and solving basic problem behaviors. Humans learn solid training theory while dogs learn basic manners (sit, down, come when called, stay and leash walking), plus the foundation behaviors for more advanced classes. While this is a well rounded class, be ready for lots of fun and games, too. The first session is an orientation for humans only, followed by six one-hour-a-week sessions for a total of seven consecutive weeks. Spaces are available now for classes beginning January 24 (Tuesday evenings) and January 30th (Monday evenings) at Rover Oaks Katy. These classes fill up fast so call today to reserve your space.
Puppy Love! The holidays often bring a new puppy into your family and Rover Oaks’ Puppy Class is a perfect way for you to ensure that your pup has all the tools they need to have a happy and harmonious life in your home. This class is specially designed for your puppy in the earliest stages of social development (8-18 weeks old) and is a fun and dynamic class focusing exclusively on puppy issues and your puppy's individual success. You'll learn how to solve puppy behavior problems (including mouthing, chewing and potty training) and how to prevent serious problems that could develop down the line. You’ll also learn how to teach basic manners. This is an exciting time for you and your puppy and early learning is a crucial part of puppy development. Because safety is a priority at Rover Oaks, participating puppies must be in the process of receiving regular vaccinations and current vet records are required. Additionally, your puppy must have been living in your home with a clean bill of health for 10 days prior to class. This class is ongoing so there’s no wait and the class occurs one hour a week for six consecutive weeks.
Personalized and Private! If you prefer individual and customized curriculum, Rover Oaks’ Private Training may be just what you need. You are important to your dog and the relationship you share is special and unique. Rover Oaks understands that problem behaviors can sometimes disrupt or even damage that good relationship. You can set things right again with the help of Rover Oaks’ team of trainers who provide private dog training and behavior consultations in and around Houston and Katy. Their goal is to help you improve your relationship with your dog while teaching you how to train and better manage his or her behavior. Each visit is custom designed and scheduled for your convenience. You can expect clear instruction, demonstration of specific techniques, and coaching while you try out some new training skills. Follow up questions by phone or e-mail are always welcome and free of charge. Some problem behaviors may take multiple visits, but often they can get you and your dog back on track with just one session.
Sleepover with Rover! Rover Oaks also offers an excellent Lodge & Learn program where they will work with your dog one-on-one while your dog stays at either of their state-of-the-art facilities. This is a great option if you are leaving for a business trip or vacation, but don’t want to delay training. This program also includes day training so your pup will get all the benefits of their training expertise, while getting to come home each night. There are a variety of options available ranging from one week to up to four weeks, two and each option includes a required goal-setting meeting prior to your dog's stay.
Additional classes including Agility, AKC Canine Good Citizen, Clicks & Tricks and Therapy Dog training are also offered, with some requiring prerequisite courses. To learn more about current classes, availability or to inquire about specific training needs call (713) 662-2119, option 1 or visit www.roveroaks.com .
