my dog has been in direct contact with poison ivy and has some spots on him, how do I get rid of the oil off his fur?

A thorough bath with a good cleansing dog shampoo and a good rinse should help remove the offending oils.  As long as the red spots aren't too inflamed and getting bigger, they should start to regress after the oils have been cleaned from the hair coat.

If the spots continue to bother your dog, you should see your veterinarian about a anti-inflammatory ointment.
