Ok my dog is a 5 year old chihuahua and i've noticed these black moles around his mouth. They are not markings but actually 3D moles. Also i noticed he has black markings around his eye that have developed through the years...these arent 3D, he also has these same marking on his testicles. What is this? I am very concerned.
Sorry for the whole explenation...if its a bit confusing and all
Some dogs are prone to the formation of small skin growths, similar to certain people. Most of these growths are harmless and don't ever bother the dog. However, if these growths are in a location where they are easily irritated by the dog's normal activities, they usually will need some attention in the future. Have your veterinarian take a look at the growths so that you have a baseline to compare with for the future. Most of those growths can be removed fairly easily and analyzed by a pathologist for their identification.
The pigmented spots you're describing are another item that can show up as a dog matures. Again, most of those will be harmless. Just be aware of what they look like, their color, and size. Have your veterinarian look at them during your regular visit just to keep tabs on them.
