dog scratched in eye by cat

Posted by hinode_rei

My shitzu dog was scratched in his eye by my cat.  The area is white, and it looks to be a flap like it was sliceed.  the area is approximately 1/4 inch wide.  What, if anything, can I apply to his eye or do I need to see a vet.  If so, it is Sunday and would like to wait until morning to go.   Also could you rinse the eye with contact conditioning solution?

If there is any question at all of a scratch on the eyeball, you should have your dog seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.  First of all, if the scratch is on the cornea, it will be very painful.  Secondly, there is an immediate danger of infection.  Thirdly, if not treated promptly and properly, there is also the possibility of vision impairment in that eye.
