My dog has one swollen eye. I believe the swelling has been caused by a foreign object. The swelling is going down, however it has lasted for three days. Could the foreign object have been expelled and the swelling is in response to the resulting injury?
Sure, that's possible. But, if there was a foreign object under the eyelid, there's also the possibility of a scratched cornea and only your veterinarian can diagnose that. It's generally not a good idea to be slow to respond to possible damage to one of your dog's eyes. Eye damage can go downhill in a hurry!
Even if the damage wasn't to the cornea but rather to one of the lids, you might still need an antibiotic for it.
