Since you had the first conversation about food with your veterinarian, that's the first place you should go to discuss your desire to change to another food. There are a lot of dog foods on the market, needless to say, with many of them being prescription-type dog foods. After talking it over with your veterinarian, consider going online to the web sites of the dog food companies for further information. You should be careful where you read about the "right" foods for your dog. Over the counter popular magazines should not be your source for scientific information.

Hi I have a 5 year old min pin (9 lbs) who has had 2 anal gland impactions in the recent years. My vet told me to put her on a high fiber diet. i have and she has had NO problems for 1 year. I have her on "science diet lite" which has a ton of fiber but she is getting sick lately. I would like to change her food after reading that what i have her on isnt so good for her. I read the ingridients and am not impressed w/this food. there is no real meat and the main ingriedient is corn meal. I'm looking for a good "meat first", high fiber food for her that will not make her put on weight. she is a small dog and is not very active during the day. I do walk her once a day and we measure out her food religiously. Any suggestions?
