Dominic walsh photo1Joy Yoga Center, Dominic Walsh Dance Theater and SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program) are joining forces to benefit the arts and animals by hosting Joy, Dance and Giving Animals a Chance on May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Joy Yoga Center in Houston.

The event marks the first time the three organizations have partnered to bring awareness and funds for both performance art and Houston’s needy animals.  The event will feature exclusive performances from Dominic Walsh dancers as well as one-of-a-kind yoga demonstrations from Joy Yoga Center.  For a $15 suggested donation, guests will enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and a silent auction.  All proceeds will benefit SNAP and Dominic Walsh Dance Theater.

“We are so excited to partner with Dominic Walsh Dance Theater and Joy Yoga Center to host a collaborative event that will not only help raise funds, but that will also provide the organizations an opportunity to engage new audiences and tell their unique story,” said Laura Welch, Director of Development for SNAP.  “Every dollar raised will help SNAP provide additional free and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to Houston’s animals.”

The event is being held at the newly-expanded Joy Yoga Center, located at 4500 Washington Avenue. Named as the best Yoga Studio in Texas by Competitor Magazine, Joy Yoga Center offers a unique approach to health and wellness for all ages and fitness levels.  “I am thrilled to work with these two amazing groups and to have them at Joy Yoga Center,” said Joy Winkler, owner of Joy Yoga Center.  “I am very passionate about animals and dance and love the idea of collaborating to create an event that will benefit both in a fun, non-traditional way.”

“Every non-profit organization in the U.S. is facing challenges expanding their exposure and raising the needed funds to continue their mission, said Dominic Walsh, Artistic Director, Dominic Walsh Dance Theater.  “By partnering with unique non-profits like SNAP, we are able to do more for the community and introduce our respective organizations to new audiences, in an interesting, inspiring and thought-provoking setting.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to benefit two great community organizations while celebrating joy, dance and giving animals a chance!  Special thanks to Joy Yoga Center for opening their   beautiful space for the event. An additional thanks to the Tony Mandola’s Gulf Coast Kitchen and to Barefoot Wines for the evenings refreshments. For questions, or to inquire about making a donation, please email
