BARC Celebrates Opening of New Cat Adoption Building!

BARC will host a Grand Opening Ceremony for its new Cat Adoption Building on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 12 - 4pm. The Cat Adoption Building will showcase cats and kittens purrfect for adoption. All animal adoption prices are discounted and cats over 2 years old are FREE!
This new space is dedicated entirely to felines and features 85 enclosures, two Get Acquainted rooms for adopters, two large sunlit Free Roam cat rooms, and space to administer medications and manage data files.
BARC encourages citizens to come explore the new and much improved BARC shelter, the new cat building and to take advantage of a number of other services being offered by BARC and our private partners on this fun filled day. BARC will offer discounted mandatory City licenses, and Dr. Susan Pickle, DVM will be on hand to provide discounted services such as, rabies vaccinations, microchips and other vaccinations. The vaccination clinic is open to the public.
They will have a photographer on hand to take family and pet portraits, a moonwalk for the kids and free food for all. Bring the family and make it an adoption day - Healthy pets on leash are also invited!

CAT Building Grand Opening will require more volunteers at BARC than usual. BARC needs extra volunteers starting today to help before and during this big event. Calling all animal lovers! Come meet the new Volunteer Coordinator at BARC , Tiffany Moore, who is also President of the Houston Dog Park Association and also see the new and improved BARC facilities. But most importantly they need to get all the animals ready for the Grand Opening Ceremony for the new Cat Adoption Building to be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 12 - 4pm. The event will have festivities and fun as well as free food and refreshments for everyone, especially the hard working volunteers and staff. On Saturday BARC needs help beginning at 8 am to prepare the cats and dogs for the big event. They need dog bathers, dog walkers, kitty cage cleaners, and more. Then when the event starts at noon they need adoption counselors for both cats and dogs who can help until 6 pm. Please register as a volunteer for the City of Houston and BARC online before you come at http://www.houstontx.gov/volunteer then go to BARC , then go to Special Events, and check off the items and times when you plan to help.
