Anything like ornamental grass, which is NOT digestible, can cause some severe gastro-intestinal disturbances, such as vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding, and possible blockages. If your dog doesn't show signs of normal behavior (eating, drinking, no vomiting or diarrhea) within the next 12-24 hours, you should have him examined ASAP.
Sometimes, undigestible stuff will pass the whole way through a dog's digestive system and not cause any problem...however, until you know that it has absolutely passed the whole way through, there still remains the possibility of a serious problem.

Hello.
My mini australia shepherd ate some ornamental grass around our development this morning while on our walk. I tried pulling him away but he chewed away. I also noticed him eating nut grass around the base of our rose bushes.
About 3 hours later he vomited the purple ornamental grass pieces and about a tablespoon or two of yellow bile. I also noticed his tummy gurgling before our walk this morning. I put kibble out but he hasn't eaten anything. Yesterday was Thanksgiving and I promise no one gave him any turkey or ham.
What is the matter with my Ace?
Thanks,
Cathy Peek
