Animal rights groups angry over Peruvian cat-eating festival

Attendees of the Gastronomical Festival of the Cat in Peru chow down on cat burgers, fried cat legs and even cat tails during this two-day event in late September.
Cats are thought to cure bronchial disease and serve as an aphrodisiac. In an event that many consider cruel and barbaric, PETA has been particularly outspoken:
If Peruvians really eat poor old Moggy because they think his meat cures bronchitis, that’s about as bizarre as it gets

I know that as an American where we keep cats and dogs as faithful and loving pets, it's hard to understand something like this. And there are other parts of the world where it is acceptable to eat dog. Where should the line be drawn?
