He was swift, he was strong, he was mighty, he was agile, he was fast, he was loving, he was loyal, and he was my Uncle Jerry’s best friend!
He truly was the only canine who has come into my home that I got along with right away. Why? Bepaws Patch was easy to get along with. He didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He always gave a dog the benefit of the doubt bepaws he was a gentleman. Even when I wanted to be next to his Dad instead of him, he let me even though the only thing in the whole world he ever wanted was his Dad. That was just Patch’s nature though.
He was the best canine cousin a dog could ever ask for and I am going to miss him. He and Uncle Jerry could come here and stay all day and we’d get along just fine…except sometimes I made my loud wookie noises that would get him barking in return
.
Patch would go anywhere my Uncle Jerry wanted to go, follow him to the ends of the earth if that’s what he wanted to do! Patch was as loyal as they come. One of their favorite things to do in the world was to go hiking in the foothills here. He and Uncle Jerry traveled around the United States and even Mexico together hiking, and swimming with Patch making new canine friends in each new place.
We will always remember him with a huge grin on his face sitting in the front seat of whatever vehicle Uncle Jerry had, happy just bepaws he was with his Dad.
One time we went up to visit him and Uncle Jerry when they were living up in the mountains in Santa Fe, NM. Me, Patch, and two other neighborhood dogs took the humans for a walk and I even got to meet horses for the first time in my life. Patch always had canine friends wherever he went and lived even though his primary focus was always Uncle Jerry. He never had a problem with inviting other dogs to come hang out with them and share his Dad with them too.
Even though he is gone from us much too soon, his spirit will live on in the memories of everyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Patch the Red Heeler!
We miss you!!! Godspeed Patch, WOOF!
