Alright Joe, so I might be a 79 Buick, but I do not intend to morf into a Ferrari, believe me. That is not my intention. ;) Being well toned and healthy is my goal, and to do and finish the walkathons. I don't think that is too much for my body to aspire too. All blood work came back normal, but the blood sugar was still over average, so I am told by losing the weight, that will take care of it self. So, that is my problem, losing the weight. I have a younger friend (25 years old) who ran the triathelon last year here in Egg Harbor Wisconsin. After the race, I asked her if she lost any weight. She said no. And of course she is much better toned than I, and she is committed to daily runs to increase her stamina for these gruelling tests. So, I might be at the end of the spectrum of age, but she is somewhat at the beginning. And she is having the same problem. I do not intend to be the Granny lady sitting in the rocking chair, I want to put on my running tights and shoes, and hit the road til I die. I wish many more women my age would adopt the same idea, but hopefully as younger women learn about nutrition and exercise, they will take that to thier limits and to the end of thier days also.
I think I mentioned this before. Blood sugar and cholesterol at my age must be dealt with. That is why I really started to exercise seriously 2 years ago. Did I mention I swam 25000 laps at the Y, in 12 months. After that, I started doing the weight machines, leg press 210lbs, arm press and inner and outer thigh machine. Toned me up pretty good, yup, looked a little smaller. Then I stopped bread and butter. That brought my middle belly down, now the walking 2 miles a day has brought me rear end firmly up and my back of my legs up to the back of my hips, don't jiggle anymore either. So, I know I am losing inches. But, the health insurance company says my bmi is still too high. So, age 64 with the bmi of a 30 year old, is too high. Not good. I want to bring my blood sugar down, and my cholesterol, and start to run again. Oh, no marathon like the Chicago one I did 20 years ago, but casual running for health and well being. Is it too late for me to get really back in shape?? I know I got to lose this weight to show better blood sugar scores and cholesterol. Got any suggestions?? You have been very helpful, but have you had experience with old ladies?? I mean professional advice of course. ;) I really am looking for sincere answers, I am serious about this. A younger woman of 30 is a marathon runner, she also is having problems losing weight to get faster results from her running. So, I know these issues are not just mine.
I AM GETTING MUCH TONED, IF I DRINK TONS OF WATER I WILL LOOK 10 LBS SLIMMER, BUT I STILL WON'T WEIGH LESS. ???? WALKING 2 MILES A DAY FIRMS UP THE BACK END OF MY BODY QUITE NICELY, NOTHING JIGGLES ANY MORE WHEN I WALK :) BUT HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A BODY BUILDER RUN A MARATHON?? BODY BUILDERS LOOK GREAT BUT IN THE LONG RUN WILL THEY MAKE IT? JOE, YOUR A BODYBUILDER, CAN YOU HELP THIS 64 YEAR OLD WOMAN?
