My name is Manda and I have cochlear implant since Nov 2008. I will be writing about how cochlear implant have change the way I have cope with everyday life. Follow my journey as I get used to wearing a cochlear implant and the sounds that I hear for the first time since being implanted in May 2009. I am profoundly deaf since birth and have worn conventional types of body worn aids up to digital hearing aids from 6mths old up to May 2009. My blog describes my experiences with the cochlear implant and how I perceive everyday sounds with the implant.
Our son Kemper was born profoundly deaf due to a flawed Connexin 26 gene. In January of 2010 he received bilateral cochlear implants at the age of 9 months. We enjoy hearing about and talking to others that have taken the cochlear implant journey.

I have four children and a fifth on the way. We have gone through preterm labor, premature birth and resulting NICU stays, and have a son who is profoundly deaf. He received bilateral cochlear implants at eight months of age. Follow his progress as he learns to listen!
