My name is Patty and I'm a person who hates wearing hats, both literally and figuratively. Now I will be wearing a caregivers cancer hat because my husband has cancer and I need to be strong for him. But I also need a place to vent, look for support and find strength. Hopefully, this blog will enable me to deal with the process and meet others who are going through a similar challenge....

I am a SAHM with two kids. I have a disease called Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) and I have already gone through the recommended procedures to prevent it from turning into colon cancer. FAP will turn into colon cancer and both run in my family. My mom died of colon cancer in 1996, my brother was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2006 and my sister died of a weird form of FAP in...

I am a 45 year old single dad of a beautiful 5 year old girl. I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer in Nov. 2005. It spread to my liver in Aug. 2007. There are so many C words that make your heart flutter like...couture, cashmere, or better yet closet! But somehow in my 30's, I had completely forgotten about other C words-words that make your heart feel like it has stopped. Words like carcinoma, cancer or chemo. I am a TV personality, producer and designer. I am the creator of an illuminated clutch line called www.solasfashion.com. As a...

I am 53 years old in very good health except for a medium sized malignant tumor on my left lung. I was diagnosed in May of 2009. All of the tests so far show no signs of any other tumors in my brain or on any of my other organs. I'm very greatful for that. On January 20, 2010 I will be undergoing a procedure called pneumonectomy. (removal of the entire left lung).
