Is a mumps vaccine for an older adult really necessary?

Posted by sandhya

I am in the health care industry and apparently "fell through the cracks" and was told after a titer, I need a mumps vax. I had the mmr when I was a kid, but got pretty sick with fever, swelling etc for days after..

now I am 50 and they are saying my mumps titer isnt high enough and in order to be employed I need a mumps vaccine.

I question this since I have worked there  for 16 years and had tested for the Mmr titer to be employed there in the first place.

I also question the side effects of the vax since I didnt have a good experience with it as a kid. Dont know if I want to be sick because I was stupid enough to get the vax now again...

opinions.?
