I had a lateral release on my left knee almost 6 weeks ago. Everything went well and I had good mobility and strength for the first 3 weeks. At 3 weeks I went through 2 days of severe swelling and have gone down hill ever since. The Dr mentioned possible nerve damage yesterday due to the rapid loss of muscle despite regular PT and exercise; he attributed this to the turnicate used during surgery. This doesn't make sense to me though because the rapid muscle loss and inability to straiten my leg did not start until the last 2.5-3 weeks? Could the swelling have put enough pressure on the nerve to cause damage?
