The physical therapist can give you exercises to help stretch your pectoralis muscles and streghten your back muscles.  As far as the pain around your ear.  It sounds like you possibly could have trigger points in your sternocliedomastoid, so find a knowledgeable massage therapist that knows about trigger points and have them do some testing to see if you have
trigger points in your SCM.  I hope this helps.

In return the shortening of your pectoralis muscles causes your trapezius muscles to be streached along with many of the muscles in your neck.  Most people have a forward head posture and most people carry their stress in the neck and shoulders.  I suggest you look into a massage therapist in your area and also a physical therapist that can possible help out your muscle problem and help bring you back more toward midline.

I'm a student massage therapist, and it sounds like to me if you do work at the computer that most likely you can have somewhat of a forward head posture, thus rounding of your shoulders which causes shortening of your pectoralis minor and major.  In return the shortening of your pectoralis muscles causes your trapezius muscles to be streached along with many of the muscles in your neck.  Most people have a forward head posture and most people carry their stress in the neck and shoulders.
