Happy Haircut Day!

Posted Feb 13 2011 12:25pm

I know it’s generally hard to tell, but from time to time Gail cuts my hair.

Yes.  I have hair.  A mousy gray fringe around my head, along with some baby bird fuzz that grows on the top of my head, unaware it seems that the rest of the hair up there fled sometime in the 1970s.

But the hair that is there grows with amazing speed.  If I go for a couple months without a haircut, it starts to curl around my ears and grow INTO my ears and it becomes a general nuisance.

I’ve got a neurologist appointment on Tuesday and want to look at least SOMEWHAT less ragged than I feel.

Best to just buzz it down to the nub.  That’ll take care of it for a couple months.  Of course, the tradeoff is that all 8 surgical scars on my head are readily visible.  The two main ones on either side of the top of my head, with the bumps like a button buck about to sprout antlers?  Nothing I can do about those.  They’re exposed, no matter what.  The scars just over and behind each ear where the electrode leads are attached to the neurostimulator wires running from my chest?  Hair covers those nicely.  The four little bitty scars where the bone markers were drilled into my head, they’re always out in the open.

So what the hell.

The dogs, of course, were their usual over-expressive selves a the end of it all.
