White Christmas

Posted Dec 29 2008 5:03pm

This is where I live:  Vancouver - absolutely beautiful even in the winter!

Wanna know what it looks like today?

SNOW, people.

I’m snowed IN.  As in, I can’t even go to the grocery store to get milk!  Well, that’s not exactly true.  I could probably get to the store - if I walked.  In my SHOES.  Who has snow boots in Vancouver?  Hello!?  Anyway, we’re fine.  We have enough turkey to last us for a week, and the power outage (Oh yeah, did you catch that?  POWER OUTAGE) only lasted for 4 hours or so.  So we’re all good here.

But. The Christmas Hamper for our friends from Peru?

At home.

My home-made baby blankets for the Children’s Hospital?

At home.

But you know what else is at home?

My family.  We are blessed beyond measure to have warmth, be safe and sound, and have more food than we could possibly eat.  And we need to share.  It just does not seem right to be so blessed and not share.

This year we sponsored a child - the first time we actually did it. We’ve talked about it.  Some years we’ve even had plans to do it.  This time we did it.  And his name is Jean.  From the DR of Congo.

This Christmas has been AWESOME!  How about yours?
