Treats for Those Sweet Cravings

Posted May 20 2009 11:27am
Greetings all! Welcome to another installment of Weight Loss Wednesdays. I don't know about you, but I have had such a sweet tooth lately. Yes, even the fitness fanatics like me can't stop those cravings all the time. Lately, I am especially craving CHOCOLATE!

I think chocolate has a place in everyone's life - just remember that a little goes a long way! Make your life a little sweeter with this brownie recipe that is low on fat and large on flavor.

Peppermint Brownies

  • 1 package fudge brownie mix
  • 4 Tbsp. instant dry, powdered skim milk
  • 1 and 1/2 cups skim milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tsp. peppermint extract
  • Nonstick vegetable oil cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat bottom of 13" x 9" baking pan with nonstick vegetable oil cooking spray.

In a small bowl, combine skim milk powder with skim milk and stir until dissolved.

In a large bowl, combine the brownie mix, applesauce, egg whites, peppermint extract, and skim milk mixture. Spread evenly in prepared pan.

Bake 30-35 minutes. Do not overback. When brownies are cool, cut into 15 even pieces. Serve immediately. (Makes 15 servings)
