Thursday Thirteen #2 - RANDOMNESS

Posted Jan 14 2009 8:03pm

Okay, time for another edition of theThursday Thirteen. Today I want to make it about 13 not-necessarily-related things and kill multiple birds with one meme. :D I am having a rough day emotionally so this will likely reflect it.

  1. Sorry Ramiele but it was time to go. Yes, I am referring to American Idol and the latest results show. Darling girl, lots of talent but since someone had to go, she was the weak link and her time was up. I am looking forward to next week and America Gives Back.
  2. Saturday was Wonderful - As Planned. P3 came home mid June from China. Little by little we have been adjusting and working though the steps required to make our adoption final in the eyes of, well, everyone. Saturday we went to the LDS Dallas Temple and became a forever family in the eyes of the Lord. We cannot thank everyone enough who supported us and was there in body or heart. It was a precious and memorable event.
  3. Sunday Was Full of Surprises. In the LDS church, we usually give babies an official naming and blessing in front of the congregation when they are very young - a couple of months old. When you adopt, the adoption must be completely final before you do so. While P3's adoption was complete several months ago, we wanted to bless her the same weekend that we went to the Temple so that the Family and Friends traveling from a distance would only need come one time. Thus, instead of Brett blessing a tiny infant (or even less bold and bossy toddler) P3 was 19 months old and full of it. She was not going to sit for having a bunch a strange men put their hands on her head to bless her - no way, at least, not without a pint-sized fit. We had a plan to all this to work but due to circumstances beyond our control, we opted instead to bless her somewhat privately after Sacrament in the Bishop's office. This change of events occurred very last minute and took some adjusting, mostly on my part. (Read Adjusting=tears). In the end, many I am sure were confused but all is well and she is really and truly P3 through and through.:D
  4. Laundry NEVER ends.
  5. When you have children, the amount of time your family spends with someone sick multiplies exponentially. Yes, once again, someone is sick. I had a sinus/throat thing and now P1 does. Sigh. Not Strep thankfully (except then she could have had antibiotics....) but fever so missing school nonetheless. Oh and the 'easy' throat swabbing? Yeah...ever tried wrestling a pig...in the mud...while they are screaming, "Wreet, wreet, WREET!!"?? Well, visualize that and you will have an image of what it was like trying to do the throat culture on P1...who had never had one before and DOES NOT do change well. Ahem.
  6. I am totally over David Archuletta. (See American Idol again) The guy can really sing and has a beautiful voice but he always sings these songs with a message...and they all sound the same. B*O*R*I*N*G. Now David Cook on the other hand....:D
  7. Don't you hate it when you really need to talk to someone and no one is available either physically or emotionally?
  8. The Hubby has a cool new job...except he really doesn't...but he is doing the work of the cool new job and is stressing...but the paperwork has not gone through so technically he does not have the cool new job...and he is still responsible for doing the old job...but his new boss is his old job's boss now and his cool new job's boss...you know, the one that he doesn't technically have. Clear as mud?
  9. No Good Deed Goes Unpunished. Tuesday, there I was, trying to run something out to someone in their car and seemed to have painfully 'stubbed' my toe on the walkway bricks. As I was standing there talking to her, however, I discovered I was bleeding. A lot. A lot more than a stubbed toe worth. Now, not wanting to call attention to my dilemma, I waited until we had finished the conversation to inspect the damage. Seems I sliced a really substantial piece of it almost clean off, thus the blood letting. Pain abounds. Now, P2 was a fab sidekick and will make a super medical person as she helped me clean and bandage it up. I then had to call my personal RN (trust me, her work is awesome but you cannot afford her:) who came up for a consultation. We decided the toe should heal with tlc and time so here I am. Now if we can just get P3 to QUIT STEPPING ON IT!!!!!
  10. Motrin is a glorious thing. Yes, dose P1 with some Motrin and she is almost good as new...except for the fever that returns as soon as it wears off and the red, bulging tonsils with lovely white dots.:)
  11. Spring in Texas is both Wonderful and Sucky. And it cannot make up it's mind. Yeah, that would be the weather. Rain, no rain, overcast, rain, humidity, rain, gray skies, rain....but at least there is rain.
  12. Thirteen is a hard number to come up with.
  13. This signaturewhile nice on white, is butt-ugly on this cocoa brown and has got to go.
