This room screamed 1890 to me when I moved in with Aaron - and he at the time used it as a TV room. I hated this room because the floor needed A LOT of work and it was VERY dark with lots of pink woodwork. Yes pink - I hated that pink (which was also in the room that would be the nursery). We started this room Memorial Day of 2007 and lost steam and only recently started again and finished the room which I now LOVE - I had a vision and it so happened in the end! So here are the before pictures which I had to scan in so sorry……

SO what did I do - I wanted a beach resort feel and I wanted the color of the ocean in Maui on my walls…so we put up bead board on the bottom of the wall and painted that as well as all of the woodwork stark white and then the top half of the room was painted the color of the ocean in Maui - I have never seen a blue that blue. Then I had 8×10’s of our favorite pictures from Hawaii (mostly from our wedding) and a picture of my babies printed off and we hung them in these cool frames I found. Then while I was cleaning out the junk room I found these wall tiles I bought for Aaron about Hawaii - one even said I would rather be in Hawaii - and we hung those as well. We then painted the floor the color of sand and installed a great closet system. It took forever to get all this done and caused one or more fights between Aaron and I but I love this room complete with beach accents - and if you can see through the door leading to the nursery a pre-view of what is to come…so after all that here is my absolute favorite room in the house but all of the rooms we are working on have a special place in my heart. Also ignore the dirty laundry!

What do you think?
