The Good Housekeeping Test Kitchen Cookbook: Your Best Friend in the Kitchen This Holiday Season -- And Enter to Win a Trip to t

Posted Nov 27 2011 4:35pm
I’ve been reading Good Housekeeping magazine since I was a teenager and shared my mom’s subscription. Back then, I was more interested in the short stories and celebrity interviews. I still love those features, but now I also love the decorating ideas and the recipes! Good Housekeeping has a reputation for thoroughly testing out the recipes, products, and other things they recommend, and their new cookbook -- The Good Housekeeping Test Kitchen Cookbook -- is no exception. Every recipe in the book has been tested three times or more. The criteria for including a recipe is that it must be delicious, family-friendly, easy to make, and healthy. These are all things that I want for my family! Watch this brief interesting video to see how Good Housekeeping triple tests all of their recipes

This holiday season, when we’re all spending more time in the kitchen, it’s a lot of fun to discover new dishes to make. I highly recommend that you pick up The Good Housekeeping Test Kitchen Cookbook before you get started! It contains more than 375 wonderful recipes for appetizers and salads; soups and stews; chicken and other poultry; beef, pork, veal and lamb; fish and seafood; pasta and noodles; grains, rice and beans; grilling (outdoors and in); casseroles and one-pot meals; easy weeknight meals; meatless main dishes; breakfast and brunch; cookies and brownies; cakes, pies and puddings. Icons throughout the book indicate whether a recipe can be made in 30 minutes or less; is heart-healthy; is low-calorie; can be made ahead; and can be made in a slow cooker. Boxes throughout the cookbook give great tips on techniques like cooking great pasta, cutting up a raw chicken, and how to tell when a casserole or one-pot meal is done.

Here’s another really cool feature: Throughout the book are links to 35 how-to videos that you can watch on your smartphone or computer! Some of the titles include Seasoning a Cast-Iron Pan, Cutting and Seeding Peppers, Melting Chocolate, Best Do-Ahead Gravy, and many more! If you’re a visual learner, this is a great way to learn how to cook great dishes and meals! There are also 275 color photographs of dishes and instructions throughout the book, which is in a binder so you can lay it flat for easy reading.

The Good Housekeeping Test Kitchen Cookbook should be your best friend during the holiday season. It has everything you need to make an amazing holiday or family meal, party food, desserts, side dishes, and so much more. Read on to find out how Good Housekeeping is celebrating the release of this new cookbook!
