Sunday Steals and Deals

Posted Aug 24 2008 10:08pm

I plan on doing some more CVS-ing this afternoon, however, I went yesterday to take advantage of some sales that were ending. Man, did I do well.

I needed diapers and toilet paper so rather than spend money outright for those items I tried to work them into my CVS-ing. Worked pretty well actually! I ended spending a bit more out of pocket because of the added items, but I still spent less than I would have if I bought them at the grocery store.

I went to CVS two days in a row. The first day I only did one transaction. You know, like a normal person would. Heh. The second day I was lucky enough to have a really nice cashier who let me do four seperate transactions so that I could maximize my savings.
Here's the breakdown:

First trip:
2 - Oral B Cross Action Toothbrushes @ 4.99 each = $9.98
2 - Glade Scented Oil Candles @ 2.99 each = $5.98
CVS coupon = -$5.00
Glade coupon = -$2.00
Oral B coupon = -$2.00
ECB's used = -$6.00
Total oop expense (including taxes) = $1.31
Get $11.98 ECB's
Note: These items are not in the above picture.

Second trip:
1st Transaction:
2 - Mach 3 Disposable Razor 3 pack @ 7.99 each = $15.98
1 - Jumbo package Pampers = $8.99
1 - packet toddler wipes = $1.49
CVS coupon = -$5.00
2 Mach 3 coupons = -$6.00
Pampers coupon = -$1.00
ECB's used = -$11.98
Total oop expense (including tax) = $2.48
Get $10.00 ECB's

2nd Transaction:
2 - Bottles Vitamin C @ $2.99 each = $5.98
2 - Garnier Face Products @ $5.99 each = $11.98
CVS coupon = -$5.00
2 - Garnier coupons = -$2.00
ECB's used = -$10.00
Total oop expense (including tax) = .96 cents!
Get $10.98 ECB's

3rd Transaction:
1 - Glade Wisp Flameless Candle = $9.99
1 - 4 pack Charmin = $3.99
CVS coupon = -$5.00
Charmin coupon = -$1.00
Glade coupon = -$5.00
Total oop expense (including tax) = $3.33
Get $2.00 ECB's

4th Transaction:
1 - John Frieda Hair Glaze = $9.99
1 - John Frieda Leave In Cond = $5.99
CVS coupon = -$5.00
ECB's used = -$10.98
Total oop expense (including tax) = FREE
Get $5.00 ECB's

That makes a grand total of $8.08 spent out of pocket for $90.34 worth of stuff !!

I also saved $45.58 on my grocery shopping this week.

As if that isn't enough, I'm planning on making yet another CVS run today.

I'm addicted. But it feels so good.
