So I’ve only recently gotten into the whole mixture of silver and gold in jewelry thing. I always thought that mixing them together was sort of tacky… but that was only until I saw it done right. Summer and Silver is a shop that specializes in lovely pod jewelry using both sterling silver and 18 karat gold inserts. I love the look of the pods; they remind me of those pretty leaves on magnolia trees or banana leaves. Ricky, the artist, gained his inspiration from the pods falling from trees in Lumpini Park in Bangkok one day. He thought they were nice and would look gorgeous on a necklace… and he was right! He scooped up a handful and took them home and went to work on new pieces. The pods are crafted and the inside is brushed with 18 karat gold or sterling silver, giving it a unique texture and appearance. The gold plate on top of the silver looks far from tacky, but looks regal and so elegant, especially with the pod style. The design comes in earrings , bracelets , rings , and necklaces . There are also non-pod pieces such as the unusual silver pendants and the silver and stone cuffs .
I had the wonderful privilege to review a few pieces of Ricky’s jewelry. The pod ring is BEYOND beautiful! To me the shape resembles a canoe, and the gold insert on the brushed silver looks great against my skin tone. The ring is adjustable as well, so I wear it comfortably on my right ring finger. It definitely grabs attention! Next was the oh too gorgeous pod bracelet. There were two pods, both sterling silver but with the inside of one being gold and the inside of the other being silver. The links were different sizes which made it very different and I just love the entire style of it. Last were the gold plate pod stud earrings. They’re tiny and simple, but add just the right touch to any ensemble. I absolutely adore EVERYTHING from Summer and Silver! You can buy Ricky’s items from Etsy or Not on the High Street . No matter where you get them from, you should definitely have one – or a couple – Summer and Silver items!
