The star fruit is an exotic looking fruit that resembles a star when sliced. This fruit may not get the same glory as the touted acai berry, but it is truly a star. Star fruit is a good source of vitamin C , potassium and vitamin B. It is extremely low in calories, is filled with fiber and loaded with antioxidants. According to a study published in the Food Chemistry, a star fruit is loaded with proanthocyanidins, the same antioxidant found in red wine.
Many don’t know this, but star fruit is a secret of the stars for treating hangovers and bags under your eyes.
Star fruit is not only loaded with health benefits, but it’s a great way to get your kids to eat their fruit because the star shape is so much fun to eat!
As we enter the winter season, it is even more important to ensure your kids are getting the recommended daily value of vitamin C. Vitamin C is not only known for strengthening the immune system, but it detoxifies the body naturally, destroys bacteria and viruses, neutralizes harmful free radicals, protects us from pollution and heals our cells. With 45 percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C in one cup, star fruit is an excellent way to boost vitamin C intake.
