Sophie has a new best friend and his name is Adam. Yes, I did say “his”. And what a cutey pah-tootey he is! He has got the sweetest little personality and is outgoing and loves Sophie as much as she loves him. They see each other every Sunday and Wednesday and they have a ritual, after church, of going and playing on the stage and hanging over the side of the baptismal. But that little four week old tradition just got nixed by Daddy-o this past Sunday and rightfully so. They play “prince and princess” in the nursery on Sunday nights and they love hiding in the cribs. Sophie yells and cheers for Adam at his basketball games and they sit on the bleachers when the game is over like they’re two high school love birds or something. This is not easy to watch my friends! She just turned three and he is a whole year older than she is.
We’ve already had to have the “you don’t kiss boys” talk. I didn’t see that one coming until another few years but when I opened the nursery door and saw her planting a big one on a fifth grade boy I knew we had to have us a little talk and quick! We took care of that; so much so that she asked if she was allowed to hug her brother the other night. Now that was an overstated point if I’ve ever made one.
I know I’m acting all bah hum buggish but I really do think it’s cute that her best friend is a boy and what a cute thing he is.
