Keurig Elite

Reusable K Kup

Copco Eco Mug

Ryan and I hardly ever get presents for each other. For birthday's and anniversaries, we usually go out to dinner (if we can afford it) or make a nice dinner at home. And if there's anything either of us needs (underwear, socks, etc), then we'll get things like that. For Christmases, we do the same. Last year we bought Franky things, but we didn't need anything, so we skipped it.

Well, this year, Ryan needs new work boots, which are a little pricey, but he felt bad buying them and not getting me anything. I've been eye-balling my MIL's Keurig coffee maker for months now, lusting after one of those magnificent fancy-pants single-cup coffee makers. But I have a perfectly good one that we got as a gift at our wedding shower. There's nothing wrong with it, other than I always end up making too much and hate to waste.

Anyway, Ryan said he'd get me one for Christmas, despite my arguments against spending an obnoxious amount of money on a coffee maker we don't need. I don't get things we want. I shop on a need basis. Unless it's for Franky, lol. I told him to nix that idea because I need new eye glasses. I've been wearing my current pair for almost six years, so I'm in need of a new pair. Plus I found a really neat website that sells them for $9.99 out the door, frames and lenses.

To make a long story (somewhat) shorter, my MIL loves to shop for bargains, and is always finding AMAZING deals on things. I'm talking she'll find an $80 playset for $3.99 at a resale shop. One particular resale shop takes donations from a big name supercenter. What happens is, person A will purchase something from said supercenter. Then they decide to return it. Rather than scrap the item, they donate the (perfectly good) items to the resale shop. The shop then marks them WAYYYYY below price.

So, my MIL knew that Ry wanted to get me a Keurig coffee maker, found one for $30 (YES $30! They retail for $99) and picked it up! Being that it only cost him $30, I made no complaints =) =) =) Can you tell I'm excited???

I know the coffee pods are pricey, so I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond today and picked up a reusable K Kup so I can brew my own coffee grounds. And maybe if a special holiday flavor comes out or something, I'll treat myself to a box of pods =) What's better is that I used a $5 off coupon and a 20% off coupon and saved $8. As I was paying, I saw a really cool coffee mug. It was $7.99. It looks just like a disposable mug, which is why I like it, lol. I decided to treat myself to it, since I saved $8 anyway. The way I see it, it's kinda like I bought the K Kup and got the mug free ;-) Well, that's how I justify the spending anyway, lol.

I'm sooooooo excited! In the last two days, I've brewed lots and lots of single cups of coffee =) And haven't wasted a single coffee ground, which I love. It's hard with my coffee maker to make just one cup, which is typically all I drink per day. And I'm the only one in our house who drinks coffee, so I ended up with a lotta waste.

What I especially love is that we can also brew tea and hot chocolate in the Keurig. I love me some Ibarra (Mexican hot chocolate) and Ryan likes Arabic black tea, so it's perfect! I'm in heaven =)

More than anything, I'm thrilled about getting a Keurig and being able to get new glasses for under $50 combined, rather than $200 if we went retail for both. Okay, I'm off to drink my freshly brewed black tea in my eco-friendly coffee mug =)
