So, How Do You Pack a Lunch? Review & Giveaway Healthy Kitchenware

Well, I don't know about you but I am feeling fairly optimistic about life in general for 2009. I personally have decided to make a few changes for the better - here on the blog, in my mental and emotional well-being and in my parenting. My family has agreed to make some good changes too - taking lunch from home more often, fewer desserts, and healthier eating. Remember my post about A Month of Meals? This week we will begin following Jamie's ideas whole-heartedly. I'll let you know how that goes.
One of the other things we or rather I, for the whole family(they will learn eventually:)), am paying more attention to are ways to be more eco-friendly. I posted several things last year that were along those lines and this year will be no different. When I was approached about trying a new line of products,Healthy Kitchenware, I was most certainly game.
Now you all know that I can really get up on my soapbox about folks who, in my most humble of opinions, take things a bit too far - MODERATION PEOPLE! And while at first glance, you might think that a company created solely for the purpose of keeping potentially hazardous chemicals out of your food, Healthy Kitchenware is more than that - it's a new age meets old-school way to help stay healthy, be eco-conscious and save money, all rolled up into one! And that is a keeper in my book!
Cynthia Bistrain is one of the creative minds behind Healthy Kitchenware.Diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2005, Cynthia discovered that man-made chemicals, xenoestrogens, which mimic estrogen in the human body and contribute to hormone imbalance, are found in plastics, detergents and antibiotics among other common consumer products. She and her husband, John Wrenn, launched Healthy Kitchenware to offer sensible glass and stainless steel products as well as advice on how to reduce toxins and create a healthier lifestyle.
This stainless steel rectangular container with stainless steel lid included a small container with plastic lid (polypropylene "5"). The stainless steel lid is held tight by metal clasps. Stainless steel SUS 304.
This is ideal to bring lunch to school or work. The smaller container can hold your salad dressing, dipping sauce, etc. Or you can place your croutons or cheese so they do not get soggy from your salad, pasta, meal or other dish.
So what did I think? Well, it is a pretty cool little container set. It is perfect for salads, fruit, rice, pasta, sandwiches — any solid food that does not have to be reheated. It is dishwasher safe (a total plus in my book!) fits inside most lunch boxes, doesn't leach toxins into your food, and is reusable.Being metal, I thought it might be really heave but it is quite lightweight. The lids seal tightly too, keeping the food in and air out. Upon studying it closely, I can imagine a whole range of things it would be good for as well - camping, car trips, toddler snacks, and even non-food items like trinkets and buttons. So where can you get a set like this? Well, a couple of places.Healthy Kitchenwareis easily accessible online and the stainless steel lunch carrier is available for about $15.99 plus shipping. They ship to the US and Canada. The other place?
That is right.Healthy Kitchenwarehas graciously agreed to provide a set to one of my fabulous readersandto Kim & Lori's!
