There are a dozen things I would like to post about, but have no time. So instead, here’s a quick story:
Seth and I went for our weekend walk while Lael was asleep. First we walked north on our usual route, but then Seth said he wanted to walk to the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier, which is south of us.
I explained to him it was about 6 miles from where we were – 5 miles from our apartment – and that I was not going to carry him. He was determined, so off we went.
I’m not sure how far we walked in total mileage, I’d guess between 3 and 4 when you count the backtracking we had to do at Belmont Marina. We found ourselves trapped by water at one point.
While Seth would not have given up, I finally had to explain it was time to return. After all, it would have been dark by the time we arrived at the Ferris Wheel.
As a reward for his incredible endurance, we took the bus home. Had we started directly from our apartment with water and snacks, I dare say he would have made it.
Seth accepted the reward with grace, but asked if we could try again today. I reminded him he had a birthday party to attend, which of course did the trick.
Pretty impressive for a 4-year-old, wouldn’t you say?
