More than 2 million variously-shaped magnets are being recalled by United Scientific for lead contamination, reports the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Indian-made magnets, mostly used in school science classes, were sold from October 1996 through September 2007.

Another 87,000 magnets are being recalled by American Scientific for lead contamination, the CPSC adds. These also were made in India and sold from October 2006 through February 2008.
Perhaps a bit creepier is the recall of 4,100 Pirates of the Caribbean sleeping bags for lead paint on the zipper pulls. I say creepier, because my son, Seth, has a penchant for putting zipper pulls in his mouth no matter what method I use to stop him. Fortunately, we do not have any Pirates paraphernalia at home. The Chinese-made sleeping bags were sold from April 2007 through October 2007 at Disney stores nationwide.
