New Year’s Eve Tradition

Posted Dec 29 2012 2:19pm

Last year we started a new tradition, thanks to  Cindy ,  with our family that I hope to continue through the years.

Everyone gets two pieces of paper – two different colors, and some markers and/or colored pencils

On one piece of paper: Draw, color, write about some of the highlights from that year

On the other piece of paper: Draw, color, write about some things you would like to see happen in the New Year coming up

After giving everyone time to work on their pictures you then share your pictures with each other. It’s so neat to see what others are looking forward to, hoping for and asking God to do on their behalf. And to see how they express it. Really awesome.

So on New Year’s Eve we will pull out last year’s pictures to see what we “anticipated” in 2012. And we will make two new pictures – of the things we loved in 2012 – the things we look back on and say “thank you God for……” and we’ll also express the desires of our heart for 2013 knowing that nothing in this little project is “magical” or demands God to act on our behalf but it’s just a way to look back and look forward with thankfulness and expectation knowing God has a perfect plan for each of us. It might include something we draw and it may not. And how comforting to know we have a good God who knows what is best for us and what will be best for us in 2013.

Happy New Year my friends!

Do you have any special New Year’s Eve family traditions?
