Mondocherry Darlings

Posted May 29 2010 2:30pm

I first fell in love with the darling girlies from Mondocherry when I saw the blossom heart paper art creations at their blog here.

As I read on what I really loved was the mother - daughter - sister collaboration that is at the heart of Mondocherry.

Then I found their darling online shop and discovered there was more to this talented trio than just sweet hearts fashioned into flowers .... Given my love of paper combined with the notion of re-purposing I just fell for these wee birdie decorations, found here.

Made of vintage papers and recycled brown paper you can choose illustration, word or music paper as the feature papers, and hearts, flowers or the original birdie for the shape design.

There there are the cards .... too sweet for words.

Here is the detail from the artwork below ... I am a complete sucker for the butterfly silhouette - it just seems to embody beauty, nature, colour and fanciful flight.

In brief the Mondocherry team are ....

.... Clare, Joy and Sue (two sisters and our Mum), who love to create with beautiful fabrics and gorgeous papers. So, what will you find as you scroll through our posts? Creative tips and projects, decorating ideas and inspiring interiors, fabulous 'finds', bits and pieces from within our own homes, and snippets of our mondocherry designs.

And there's more ...

After living in separate countries, we all found ourselves back in Brisbane in 2006, and over many cups of coffee, and possibly a few too many slices of cake, we decided to form mondocherry in order to share what we enjoy making with others.

We have always loved old books and enjoy searching for special ones, with beautiful or quirky illustrations and winsome text, in flea markets, charity shops and at fetes. They show a world when life was very different to the way it is today and our children are fascinated by them too.

We love using these discarded books in our artwork and designs. We also love being surrounded by the colour and texture of beautiful fabric. When we find textiles that capture our attention we enjoy using these in both our button and fabric artwork, often hand stitching beads and sequins to add texture, sparkle and individuality.

Go here to read their blog , or here to shop online , you will enjoy seeing heartfelt designs from the Mondocherry darlings, best Le.
