Mommy, my butt hurts...

Posted Aug 24 2008 10:08pm
We all seem to have a touch of some sort of stomach bug here. It's very, very mild thankfully. No other symptoms other than a bit more frequent bathroom trips and diaper changes.

Yesterday morning, my 2 1/2 year old, L, woke up with a dirty diaper. Very unusual for her. She hasn't pooped during the night in months and months. But, like I said, we all have a little bug so I didn't think much of it. Unfortunately, it seems like she may have gone some time in the middle of the night and therefor slept for hours in a dirty diaper. This, of course, resulted in her having a rosy red behind. Nothing a bit of ointment can't fix, right?

Wrong.

This morning, same thing. Only, she was crying in pain. Her dirty diaper really irritated her already sore behind to the point of extreme pain. I couldn't even use diaper wipes to clean her, I had to stand her in the shower and just rinse her off with her screaming her head off the entire time.

So, my dear mommy friends. Has anyone experienced this with their children before? What's the best way for me to handle it? Frequent diaper changes and lots of diaper rash cream? Or does someone know of a "secret mommy cure"? My poor little baby is in so much pain from this. I feel so terrible! She just keeps saying, "Mommy, my butt hurts."
