Just in time for the cold season, some of the biggest makers of infant cough and cold medicines are pulling over-the-counter products from shelves around the country, reports The New York Times.
There is little evidence that the remedies provide any measurable benefit to children, pediatricians say. I reported here how these medicines not only failed to work, but gave us quite a scare with our own son.
Although the move is considered a positive development, FDA experts believe the industry should have pulled the medicine for children under 6, which I reported here and here. There has been much criticism recently of the drugs, because some infants have been seriously injured or killed.
