Love Without Boundaries July Update

Posted Jan 14 2009 8:01pm

I have not posted about China basically since my last post on the Earthquake recovery but like China, I too have recovered. One of my favorite humanitarian organizations is, as many of you know, Love Without Boundaries (LWB) out of Oklahoma. They have worked wonders for millions of China's darling children. Here is the July update from Amy Eldridge, their Executive Director that I print with her permission. Enjoy!

Hi everyone!

July has been an amazingly busy month for Love Without
, and I want to mention some of the highlights. Our monthly
newsletter for July concentrates on our medical program, and can be found
online at http://www.lovewith outboundaries. com/pdfs/ July08.pdf
It is definitely worth the download time.

Many of you have been following the story of Jie, the beautiful 10 year old
from Jiangxi who was recently orphaned with a severe heart defect. I am so
happy to tell you that she has moved to Hangzhou for her surgery thanks to
some great donors who stepped forward to save her life. A special thank you
to our friends in Spain for giving her this second chance. GRACIAS!

Our Anhui Cleft Healing Home has had lots of new arrivals this month, with
our youngest babies yet moving in. One of the littlest boys is still in
the ICU at Anhui Children's Hospital because he was just so sick. Please
keep baby Tyler in your thoughts and prayers. You can read about the great
kids living in this life changing home on our blog at
http://www.lwbcleft home.blogspot. com/ Don't forget that you can easily
sign up online for all three of our LWB blogs and then they are delivered
right to your inbox.

Our Mama's Wish students in the Tibetan regions who sat for the national
college entrance exam in June are getting their scores back. We are
cheering with each and every one of them who has been accepted to
university! Over 50 inspiring high school students sat for the exam and so
far 28 of them have found sponsors to help them with their dreams of
attending college. If you have ever wanted to help a child rise above
their poverty, please check out our Mama's Wish page at
http://www.lovewith outboundaries. com/education_ mamas_wish. cfm I never get
tired of seeing that video!

We recently learned of a very poor orphanage in Henan province which had not
done any international adoptions to this point. We met their staff at our
provincial special needs training and told them we would help in any way
possible. Thanks to our Orphanage Assistance program, we were able to
provide them with an incubator and new cribs this month, and very soon we
will be opening a foster care program in the city of Shangqui as well.
Look for more details soon.

I want to mention that LWB has been blessed to team up with the Jie Jie
Foundation to benefit orphans in need of educational opportunities. Cooking
with Jie Jie: A Taste of Our Children's Chinese Heritage is a delightful
cookbook written and published by JJF. It includes wonderful Chinese recipes
that your family will LOVE. Books are just $12 and every penny raised from
the sale of the cookbooks will be donated to LWB's education programs. You
can order online at http://www.jiejiefo undation. org/9.html

Our nutrition director in China had a very busy July as well, visiting all
of our nutrition orphanages in Anhui (Dingyuan, Fuyang, Huainan and
Xiaoxian) as well as visiting the Shangrao Ling orphanage in Jiangxi. We
have seen some amazing turnarounds in the health of the children receiving
supplemental nutrition. Rising global food prices have caused the price of
infant formula in China to increase by over 30%, so the orphanages are very
grateful to our donors who provide this assistance.

Our medical program launched our new Unity Fund this month
( http://www.lovewith outboundaries. com/unityfund. cfm ) , which has a "dream
big" goal of actually preventing children from being orphaned. We are
often approached by rural families who feel they have no possible way to
save the lives of their children born with medical needs, and they often
question whether their children would have a better chance of being healed
if they were orphaned. We created the Unity Fund to keep families united,
and we are challenging people to donate just ONE DOLLAR to this fund during
the month of August to change a child's life forever. We are also running
a fun contest where you have a chance to win some LWB merchandise (our
Love's Journey 2 book on adoption, an incredible jewelry set, tshirts, as
well as a donated gas card (yea! Free gas!) by mentioning this new program
on your blog or uploading a video to Youtube. All the contest details are

http://lwbchinablog .blogspot. com/2008/ 07/lwb-unity- fund-contest- okay-we-are.

While the contest is just for fun, the need for medical help for the rural
poor is essential. THANK YOU for learning more about this fund and how you
can give the gift of true hope to families who love their children and yet
who find themselves in heartbreaking situations.

We also want to report that we have partnered with three organizations in
China to provide help to children impacted by the earthquake in Sichuan.
We are working with AmeriCares to support a hospital at the epicenter of the
quake, which will serve up to 200 patients a day; we are sponsoring summer
camps for children impacted by the earthquake, where trained counselors will
help them work through their feelings through play and art, and we are also
helping to build a temporary library near the epicenter so that children can
escape some of the sadness of the quake through the joy of books and
reading. Thank you to everyone who was so patient while we found the
perfect projects for your hard earned funds.

The LWB golf outing in Chicago is coming up quickly! (August 18th) If you
would like more information on playing at Beverly Country Club, please email
us at info@lwbmail. com

Bless you ALL for continuing to change the lives of children even during
these much tougher financial times. We couldn't do it without you!

Because every child counts,

Amy Eldridge
