My children are picky eaters especially my youngest. I have a hard time getting him to eat nutritious foods. My son has a major sweet tooth but I don't want him to fill up on junk this holiday season. So, I was excited to be able to try Matisse and Jack's Bake at Home Snacks.
They come in brightly colored boxes and are so simple to make. All you need to do is add a couple of ingredients and bake them for about a half an hour. My family tried Cranberry Power Snacks, Cocoa Squares, Chocolate Chip Power Snacks and Granola Bites.
Matisse and Jack's Bake at Home Snacks are packed with protein, Omega 3's and contain zero trans fats. If you or your children crave chocolate like mine do, Matisse and Jack's Cocoa Squares are a much healthier alternative to cookies or a chocolate bar. They are made with whole grain oat and wheat flour and flax seeds and are a good source of fiber and calcium. The Cocoa squares were my family's favorite.
My little picky eater also enjoyed the Chocolate Chip Power Snacks. Like the Cocoa Squares, the Chocolate Chip Power Snacks also made with whole grains and flax seeds. What I love the best about these snacks is that they are hearty and delicious but only contain 12g of sugar.
The Cranberry Power Snacks are a lot like their Chocolate Chip Power Snacks but instead of having chocolate chips in them they are full of delicious cranberries. I love cranberries. They are really good for your kidneys and can help prevent infection.
The snacks I discussed above are baked in a 8x8 square pan and you only have to add applesauce, oil and water to the mix. The Granola Bites are different. These are full of oats, raisins, whole grains, and coconut. All you need to do is add 2 tbsp of honey, 8 tbsp of butter and 1-2 tbsp of water to the mix. To make bite sized snacks bake them in a mini-muffin pan. You can also make bars by baking the Granola Bites in a square pan but the bites are more fun for kids.
Each bake at home snack also has recipe variations. For example, you can add nuts, dried fruit or frozen berries to the mix or if you are creative in the kitchen you can make up your own variation.
Matisse and Jack's can be purchased at Super Target and Whole Foods Market or you can order them directly from them online. These simple, delicious and nutritious snacks will surely please the pickiest of eaters.
