It's Buddy Walk Time

Posted Jun 13 2009 12:25am
Since Oct is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month there are Buddy Walks™ taking place all across the country and abroad.

The Buddy Walk™ is a 1-mile walk to raise funds and awareness, and to promote inclusion and acceptance of individuals with Down syndrome. In 2007 more than 270 Buddy Walk™ events took place, over $9.5 million dollars was raised nationwide, and more than 230,000 individuals participated in a Buddy Walk™.

We've been attending Buddy Walks™ since Kayla was 3 months old - this will be our 6 th year participating. The Roswell Buddy Walk is on Oct 11 and hopefully it won't be quite as interesting getting there like it was last year - but of course Joe is here this year so it'll be uneventful!

We hope to raise $1700 for Kayla's team. Part of the funds raised are sent to the National Down Syndrome Society and the remaining funds are put back into the local organization. Last year we were able to receive a scholarship to attend the national convention, which was a real blessing!

If you would like to sponsor Kayla you can visit her First Giving page or click on the fundraising link on the top left page. Thank you!
