I think one of the most annoying things in the world is when bloggers go WEEKS without posting. And I do it ALL THE DAMN TIME. So I thought I'd update since I am sitting here at my kitchen island, listening to Claire NOT nap for the 4th day in a row. I just Twittered that with Claire, it's less of a "nap" and more of a 90 minute span of bad behavior, only she's confined to her crib for said 90 minutes. She never cries, she sings to herself, counts to 10 (!), recites the poorest rendition of the ABC's I've ever heard and randomly laughs like a lunatic. Charlotte dropped her nap around 18-20 months so I think this is probably my fate. It's also probably time to set up the toddler bed in her room and get rid of the crib since she is more than capable (and happy) to climb both in and out of it. However I just cannot bring myself to do that just yet, maybe over the holidays. We'll see.
The girls are both doing very well, Charlotte loves school and has taken to choosing her own clothes in the morning which is fine, because I am not one of those mothers who cares if she looks like a hobo. Which, most days, she does. What I've been trying to do is give her a few things to choose from so that we don't end up with outfits she is most given to choose, which would be something like (actually exactly like) a striped turtleneck, fluffy tulle tutu and argyle tights. That's fine for the weekends. For school I tend to draw the line. A thin, wiggly line but a line nonetheless.
Claire is starting to copy everything Charlotte does, right down to selecting things she'd like to wear. So yesterday, Claire wore a floral dress, striped tights and a leopard print coat. Honestly, my kids do have some really nice clothes - they just choose to wear them in odd combinations. Other times, I shove them into cute outfits. See? Look.

What else is going on here? Mr. P's work Christmas party is this weekend, on Saturday night and honestly I look forward to it all season. Unfortunately I will not be attending because we don't have a sitter. I asked no less than 12 people - TWELVE - to sit for us and everyone is booked/has plans. I have one more lead and then I'm calling it a day. Mr. P did promise to bring me home a doggy bag (really I am into it for the dinner AND the free booze) so I guess that's fine. I'm getting my hair cut and my brows done on Saturday in anticipation of maybe-attending the party so if we don't have a sitter I guess I'll sit in my living room all dolled up drinking booze by myself. WHO'S COMING OVER?
Oh right, NOBODY because EVERYBODY has plans!
Ah, sounds like Claire's fallen asleep. Awesome, because I have to wake her up in exactly 20 minutes to go pick up Charlotte at school. Better than no nap at all, right? Right. I should probably go make a list of errands to run this afternoon - it's also my sister's birthday this weekend and we are going out tonight for dinner to celebrate so I am definitely looking forward to that.
Hope you guys are having a great December and finding grace in small moments and not getting too stressed out about the holidays. I am going to try to pop back in here more often - or catch me on Twitter (I hang out there a lot more than I'm here.) More later!
