I love going on field trips with my kids’ classes. This year, we went to an art museum and the zoo! Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, many schools are cutting back on field trips or eliminating them altogether. According to The American Association of School Administrators, more than 30,000 schools will eliminate field trips this year! That is so sad because children love to learn through hands-on experiences. Check out the tongue-in-cheek video below to see what I mean

One company is trying to do something to help more children be able to experience field trips. Lunchables Lunch Combinations has started a new program called Project Potential, with the goal of giving enriching experiences to kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity. Their first endeavor is called “,” which will give 50 classrooms the opportunity to go on an educational field trip!
So, which 50 classrooms will go? You get to help decide! Go to www.lunchables.com/potential/ and nominate a deserving classroom! It might be your own child’s classroom or another one in your community. Anyone, ages 6 and up, can nominate a class. And spread the word to everyone you know! From all of the nominations received, 50 will be chosen for a free field trip.
Who will you nominate? Feel free to share your nomination in a comment below. (And don’t forget to enter it at www.lunchables.com/potential/ .) My sister teaches first grade in a school district that is experiencing severe budget cuts, so I think I’ll nominate her classroom for a field trip from Lunchables Lunch Combinations! I hope you’ll nominate a classroom, too.
