Have you Tried Kickboxing?

Posted Mar 12 2009 4:27pm 1 Comment
Welcome to another Weight-loss Wednesday everyone. Today, I'd like to recommend kickboxing as a great form of exercise. I lost over 30 pounds with Turbo Jam, which uses a variety of martial arts, including kickboxing. Tae Bo is another popular workout in this genre.

Kickboxing provides quite a workout. It provides a superb total body workout that increases stamina, flexibility and strength. One of the things that I like most is the effect kickboxing has had on my abs/core. After two children, my abs are stronger than ever before, and I attribute much of this success to kickboxing. No more crunches lady. Kickboxing works your abs while you are standing up! Yippee!

Kickboxing workouts are appropriate for most fitness levels. If you are already in good shape, you can usually hit the ground running with a little instruction on proper form. If you are not yet as physically fit, you should either take beginner classes or use a beginner DVD to learn proper form and work at a slower pace. If you have balance or joint problems, check with your doctor. You may still be able to participate, but should do so with care.

If you want an intense full body workout, it's hard to beat kickboxing. It works just about every muscle in the body, and if done at a quick pace, it's an excellent fat-burning exercise. You don't have to be a black belt to participate. All you need is the desire to get fit.

Have a great week everyone!

Kickboxing is my new favorite too! I take it at LaBoxing - I was new to it, and have been very happy with the results. I'd recommend it to everyone as well! Thanks Jenn for the article :)
