Happy St. Patrick’s Day: Beer, Beer And More Beer

Posted Mar 16 2009 3:19pm

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Today is March 16, 2009 and all over the world people are drinking green beer (except in Ireland) and getting drunk celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. I’ve put together some manly beer links for Building Camelot readers in hopes that you have a safe and not-too-drunk St. Patrick’s Day.

Beer Mapping: Dublin, Ireland Beer Map :

This Google Maps mashup comes to you courtesy of The Beer Mapping Project. The map is centered on the St. James’s Gate Brewery (home of the lovely beer known as Guinness) and shows you all brewpubs, brewery’s, beer bars, beer stores and home brew stores in a 25 mile radius. To see more of Ireland’s beer related locations, check out the full map here.

While you’re there, and if you have a love for beer and a passion to help map your favorite beer spots, submit a new location and join the forums. The more beer locations we can map, the better this world will be.

Periodic Table Of Beers :

If you thought you knew a lot about beer, then you haven’t seen the periodic table of beers. (Click on the image for a much larger and readable picture) I’m not sure how the guy got the full resolution picture, but the original poster was developed by Mantis Design. If I had a man cave, I’d so buy one of these and hang it proudly on the wall.

After looking over the periodic table, I realize that I have a lot of drinking to do. I’ve never even heard of many of the types of beer listed. The table includes the following: Faro, Gueuze, Ordinary bitter, Oud bruin, Dortmunder, Munich helles and many others. So many beers, so little time.

How To Pour A Black & Tan :

If you’ve ever wondered how your bar tender pours a Black and Tan, you gotta check out this video. Now you know how to pour one for yourself and now you’ll be that much cooler this St. Patrick’s Day.

Go Commando With the Beerdolier :

I came across the Beerdolier a long time ago via Uncrate and I’m excited to now have a place to share this great beer drinking accessory with you. Keep a full six-pack of your favorite frosty beverages nearby and still be able to use your hands with the Beerdoiler. It’s perfect for St. Patrick’s Day pub crawls, tailgating, grilling out, and cutting the grass and extreme parenting. Okay, that last one was stretching it a bit.

Anyway, hope you all have a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day and Slán ’s Beannachd!
